Starboard
Highlight popular messages with the starboard. Set a reaction threshold, custom emoji, and dedicated channel.
What is a starboard?
A starboard is a "hall of fame" channel that highlights the most popular messages in your server. When enough members react to a message with the star emoji (or your custom emoji), that message is automatically reposted to your starboard channel with full context, including the author, content, attachments, and a link back to the original.
It's a great way to surface funny moments, helpful answers, or memorable quotes that your community loved.
Setting the starboard channel
First, designate which channel will serve as your starboard.
Usage
/starboard channel #starboard
Make sure Nevi has permission to send messages and embed links in this channel. Most servers create a dedicated #starboard or #hall-of-fame channel for this purpose.
Custom reaction emoji
By default, the starboard uses the ⭐ star emoji. You can change it to any emoji that fits your server's vibe.
Usage
/starboard reaction <emoji>
Example
/starboard reaction 🏆
Custom server emojis work too. The emoji you choose is the one members need to react with for messages to qualify for the starboard.
Reaction threshold
The threshold is the minimum number of reactions a message needs before it gets posted to the starboard. The default is typically 3.
Usage
/starboard threshold <count>
Example
/starboard threshold 5
Choose a threshold that makes sense for your server's activity level. Too low and the starboard fills with everything; too high and nothing ever makes it.
Viewing settings
Check your current starboard configuration.
Usage
/starboard view
This shows the current channel, emoji, and threshold settings for your starboard.
Disabling the starboard
To turn off the starboard, run the channel command without specifying a channel.
Usage
/starboard channel— Remove channel assignment to disable the starboard
This removes the channel assignment and stops the starboard from tracking reactions. Existing starboard posts in the channel will remain but no new ones will be created.
Tips
Get the most out of your starboard with these suggestions:
Scale with your server
For small servers (under 50 active members), a threshold of 2–3 works well. For larger servers (500+), consider 5–10 to keep the starboard meaningful.
Make it read-only
Set the starboard channel so only Nevi can send messages. This keeps it clean. Just the highlights, no clutter.
Self-stars don't count
The message author's own reaction does not count toward the threshold, so members can't star their own messages to the starboard.
