Verification Level
Change your Discord server's verification level to control what new members need before they can send messages.
What does this command do?
The /verification command changes Discord's native server verification level. This controls what accounts need before they can send messages or DMs to server members.
It does not create a custom verification gate or reaction-based verify system. It directly sets the same verification level you would find in Discord's server settings under Moderation.
Verification levels
Each subcommand sets a different verification level:
| Subcommand | Level | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
/verification none | None | No restrictions |
/verification low | Low | Must have a verified email |
/verification medium | Medium | Verified email + account older than 5 minutes |
/verification high | High | Verified email + member of the server for 10+ minutes |
/verification very_high | Very High | Must have a verified phone number |
Viewing current level
Use /verification view to check the server's current verification level.
Use cases
During raids
Temporarily raise to very_high to stop new accounts from posting. Lower it once the raid is over.
Casual servers
low or medium works well for most communities. Stops throwaway accounts without being restrictive.
High-security servers
very_high requires a phone number, which significantly reduces alt accounts and bots.
Permissions
This command requires the MANAGE_GUILD Discord permission and Admin permission level in Nevi.
