Exemptions

Exempt specific roles and channels from Nevi's auto-moderation filters.

How exemptions work

Roles and channels can be exempted from all automod checks. Exemption checks run before any filter processing, so exempted users and channels skip automod entirely.

This is useful for mod channels where filtered content needs to be discussed, bot channels that might trigger false positives, or trusted roles that should bypass automated checks.

Managing exemptions

Use the /automod exempt subcommand to add, remove, and list exemptions.

Commands

/automod exempt add role @Role

Exempt a role from all automod filters.

/automod exempt add channel #channel

Exempt a channel from all automod filters.

/automod exempt remove role @Role

Remove a role exemption.

/automod exempt remove channel #channel

Remove a channel exemption.

/automod exempt list

View all exempted roles and channels.

Log channel

Set a dedicated channel for automod violation logs. This keeps automod events separate from your general moderation log.

/automod log #channel

Set the automod log channel. All violations will be posted here.

/automod log off

Disable the dedicated automod log channel.

Violations are also logged to the guild's general mod log if one is configured. The dedicated automod log channel gives you a focused view of just automod events.

Tips

Exempt your mod channel

Moderators need to discuss filtered content without triggering automod. Exempt your mod discussion channel so they can share examples, review reports, and coordinate without interference.

Exempt bot channels

Bots can produce output that looks like spam or contains links. Exempt channels where bots are active to prevent false positives from automated output.

Use the log channel

Set a dedicated automod log so violations don't get lost in the general mod log. This makes it easier to spot patterns and review automod activity at a glance.
