Bot Not Responding
Troubleshoot why Nevi isn't responding to your commands. Check bot status, permissions, channel ignores, slash command registration, and more.
Check bot status
The first thing to check is whether Nevi is actually online. Look at the server member list on the right side of Discord and find Nevi.
Nevi shows as online (green dot)
The bot is running. The issue is likely permissions, channel ignores, or how you're invoking the command. Continue reading below.
Nevi shows as offline (gray dot)
The bot may be restarting or experiencing downtime. Wait a few minutes and check again. If it stays offline for an extended period, check the Nevi Support Server for status updates.
Nevi isn't in the member list at all
The bot may not have been added to your server, or it was removed. Visit the Invite Guide to add Nevi to your server.
Check bot permissions
Nevi needs certain Discord permissions to function. If any of these are missing, it may not be able to respond in some or all channels.
At minimum, Nevi's role needs the following permissions in the channel where you're trying to use it:
Send Messages
Without this, Nevi literally cannot respond.
Embed Links
Most responses use embeds. Without this permission, responses may fail silently.
Read Message History
Required for some features like reaction roles and logging.
Use Application Commands
Required for slash commands to work. If this is disabled, you won't even see Nevi's commands in the autocomplete menu.
For a deeper dive, see the Permission Issues troubleshooting guide.
Channel ignores
Nevi has a built-in ignore system that lets server admins disable specific command modules in specific channels. If commands aren't working in a particular channel but work fine elsewhere, the channel might be ignored.
Check ignored channels
/ignore listThis shows all channels and modules that are currently ignored. If you see the channel you're in listed here, that's why Nevi isn't responding. Ask a server admin to remove the ignore with /ignore remove.
Wrong prefix
Make sure you're using the right command format for the platform you're on:
Discord
Use slash commands (type / to see the command menu). Don't type commands as plain text - they must be invoked through Discord's slash command system.
Fluxer
Use the ! prefix (e.g., !help). Slash commands are not available on Fluxer.
Slash commands not showing
If you type / and don't see Nevi's commands in the autocomplete menu, try these steps:
- Wait up to an hour. After adding a new bot, Discord can take up to an hour to register its slash commands. This is a Discord limitation, not a Nevi issue.
- Restart Discord. Sometimes the command cache is stale. Fully close and reopen Discord (not just minimize).
- Check "Use Application Commands" permission. If this permission is denied for @everyone or your role in the channel, slash commands won't appear.
- Re-invite the bot. If commands still don't show, the bot may have been invited without the
applications.commandsscope. Use the invite link to re-add Nevi with the correct permissions.
Slow responses
If Nevi is responding but slowly, the platform may be experiencing a lot of load. This is usually temporary — try again later and it should resolve on its own.
Still not working?

- Your server name or ID
- The channel where the issue occurs
- The exact command you're trying to run
- Whether Nevi shows as online or offline
- Any error messages you received
