Horse Racing
How Nevi's live horse racing works. Pick a horse, enter races, view results, and win currency with neural network-simulated races.
Overview
Nevi features live animated horse races where members pick a horse, enter a race, and watch it unfold in real time. Races are simulated using a neural network that factors in each horse's individual stats, making every race unpredictable and exciting.
Win a race and you'll earn currency based on the odds. Pick your horse wisely, study the stats, and compete against other server members for bragging rights and big payouts.
Picking a horse
Before entering a race, you need to pick a horse from the available pool. Each horse has unique stats that influence its performance on the track.
Usage
/horse pick
Browse the available horses and select one to be your runner. Each horse displays its stats so you can make an informed choice. Your pick persists until you change it, so you don't need to pick a new horse before every race.
Horse Stats
- Speed - How fast the horse runs at peak performance. Higher speed means a faster top pace.
- Stamina - How long the horse can maintain high speed before tiring. Low-stamina horses may start strong but fade in longer races.
- Consistency - How reliably the horse performs race to race. A consistent horse delivers predictable results; an inconsistent one might surprise you in either direction.
Entering a race
Once you've picked a horse, use the /race enter command to register your horse in the current race.
Usage
/race enter
Enters your picked horse into the next available race. You must have already selected a horse with /horse pick before entering. Races begin once enough entries are in or after a waiting period.
Multiple server members can enter the same race, each with their own horse. The more entries, the more competitive and rewarding the win.
Viewing races
Use the /race view command to see the current race status, including which horses are entered and who's racing.
Usage
/race view
Shows the current race lineup, entries so far, and time remaining before the race starts. During a race, the animation plays out live so you can watch the horses compete in real time.
Race history
The /race history command shows recent race results: who won, finishing positions, and payouts.
Usage
/race history
Review past races to study which horses have been performing well. A horse with a strong recent track record may be worth choosing for your next race.
How races work
Races in Nevi are simulated live using a neural network that takes each horse's stats into account. Stats matter, but there's always an element of unpredictability that keeps things exciting.
Simulation factors
- Horse stats - Speed, stamina, and consistency all influence the race outcome
- Race conditions - Varying conditions can favor different types of horses
- Randomness - A degree of variance ensures no horse is a guaranteed winner, keeping races fair and competitive
The race animation plays out in real time in the channel, showing each horse's progress along the track. You get to watch the drama unfold.
Tips
Study the stats
Don't just pick a horse at random. Look at speed, stamina, and consistency to make an informed decision. A balanced horse is often a safer bet than one with extreme stats in a single category.
Check race history
Use /race history to see which horses have been winning recently. Past performance isn't a guarantee, but it can reveal trends and help you avoid consistently poor performers.
Different horses for different conditions
Race conditions vary, and some horses perform better under certain conditions than others. A high-stamina horse may shine in longer races, while a high-speed horse dominates short sprints. Pay attention to the conditions before picking.
